Interaction Between The Roman And Celtic Civilizations

Interaction between the Roman and Celtic civilizations Between 750 BC and 12 BC the Celts were the most powerful people in Northern central Europe. The Celts consisted of a number of tribes that all spoke a similar common language as well as sharing common elements of culture and art but were not a cohesive group like the Romans or Egyptians. The Celts were widely spread through Europe from the British Isles to Galatia more commonly known today as Austria, Switzerland, southern France and Spain, these areas consisted of multiple different political organisations ruled by various leaders. North west Europe was inhabited by three main Celtic groups; The Gauls who lived in ancient France, Britons who lived in Great Britain and Gaels who lived in Ireland. The Celts were first mentioned in Greek written sources around 500 BC when they were referred to as Keltoi. Other sources such as those of the Romans also mention the Celtic groups for example texts from Alexander the Great. When the Romans invaded and Conquered Europe most of Celtic cultu re, history and technology was destroyed, the only elements surviving were those such as their language. Much if not all of the interaction between the Romans and Celts was based on conflict, battles and wars between the two groups occurred frequently, generally as a result of one group wanting the others resources, land and slaves, as well as riches such as, iron, lead, zinc, copper, silver and gold. In CAPM model, risk-free rate, risk premium rate and ÃŽ ²are assumed separately 4.5%, 6.5% and 1.1. It is not easy to determine ÃŽ ²because it changes every day. Therefore, cost of capital (Re) is calculated by the formula and equals to 11.65%. This Re is used in DDM and DAE. In WACC model, because Re is 11.65%, Rf is calculated by formula and equals to 11.43% . This Rf is used in DAOE and DCF. The share price is calculated by these 4 different models. Areas of analysis include: †¢ Differentiating types of usage. †¢ For items with recurring usage, identify the best forecast formula from among nine methods preloaded into the spreadsheet; calculate the forecast and suggested replenishment parameters. †¢ For items with sporadic usage, calculate normal quantity sold/used in one transaction as well as minimum and maximum quantities. Compare your current inventory value, turnover and return on investment to potential â€Å"ideal† values. You can then see how varying safety stock and other parameters will affect your service level and inventory investment. †¢ Employ user maintained controls to smooth out unusually high or low usage. †¢ Graphically review the history and suggested replenishment parameters of a specific item comparing the results of all 11 forecasting methods. †¢ Compare the current and potential values of these key metrics: †¢ Inventory turnover †¢ Turn/earn index †¢ Gross margin return on investment Adjusted gross margin (i. e. , gross margin considering your average inventory investment) †¢ Percentage of excess inventory †¢ Planned excess (what vendors force you to buy in excess of what you need). Spreadsheet 2: Price Break (Item) If a vendor offers you a lower price per piece for a larger purchase quantity, is it a good deal? This spreadsheet will help you make an intelligent decision. It compares the lower cost per piece to the cost of carrying inventory for a longer period of time. It also takes into account the lower reordering cost per unit resulting from the purchase of larger quantities. The price break that provides the lowest Total Cost/Piece represents the â€Å"best buy† quantity. Spreadsheet 3: Price Break (Vendor Line) This spreadsheet compares the discount you will receive to the cost of carrying each purchase quantity for the length of time necessary to sell the entire amount (based on your current overall forecast for the vendor line). The result is a calculation of how much each dollar’s worth of inventory will cost when you consider both the discount and carrying cost. The lower the cost of a dollar’s worth of material, the better the deal. Spreadsheet 4: Price Break (Terms/Freight) With this spreadsheet, you will be able to consider freight, terms discounts and extended terms to decide which of three entered purchase quantities represents your â€Å"best buy† quantity. Spreadsheet 5: Value of Lost Inventory This spreadsheet determines the amount of additional sales your company must generate to make up for the value of material that is lost, stolen or otherwise unusable. Each of the spreadsheets is provided on a single CD-ROM, along with hard copies of the spreadsheets, and detailed instructions, all packaged in a sturdy binder. Romeo Juliet and Westside Story Essay Example For Students

Romeo Juliet and Westside Story Essay The plays Romeo and Juliet and Westside Story have many similarities and differences. One major compare and contrast in the two, are the main characters. Tony, one of the main male characters in Westside Story, is comparable to Romeo; Maria of Westside Story, is comparable to Juliet. Some of the other comparable characters include: Anita to the nurse, Riff to Mercutio, and Bernardo to Tybalt. Tony and Romeo have many similarities, however, there are also some differences. They both fall in love with a girl from a totally different social group. Both of the men are in groups that are rivals of the group hat their lover is in. When Romeo confides in his friend the Friar, and Tony to the candy store owner, both men have a similar reaction but agree to help in any way possible. When Romeo gets married to Juliet, the Friar marries them. When Tony marries Maria, they say their vows to each other, with nobody else around. Also, in Romeo and Juliet, the Friar works out the plan for them to be together. In Westside Story, it is Maria and Tony the make up the plan. At the end of A Westside Story Tony is killed by Chino, who is compared to Paris. However, in Romeo and Juliet it is Romeo who kills Paris. Maria, of Westside Story, is also much like Juliet. However, there are more differences between Juliet and Maria, than there are between Romeo and Tony. Maria, instead of having a nurse, has her friend, Anita, who helped her through her youth. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet fakes her death by drinking a potion given to her by the Friar, and awaits Romeo in the family tomb. In Westside Story, Maria becomes angry, because she is told that Tony was killed by Chino; when in fact, Tony was still alive. When Maria heard the news of Tony s death, she went looking for Chino to kill her, too. To Maria s surprise, while she is searching the streets for Chino, she finds Tony, who is then shot and killed by Chino. The biggest difference between Maria and Juliet, is that in the end of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet commits suicide when she finds Romeo dead. Whereas, in Westside Story, Maria is never killed. She does, however, plead to be killed also, so she could be with Tony, as well as, threatening to kill all the men that had anything to do with the violence. The other comparable characters were harder to notice the differences because they did not have such large parts. However, there are still major differences and similarities. Riff, being compared to Mercutio, was sort of the leader. He was also the first to be killed within the gang. Bernardo, being compared to Tybalt, had a hot temper, and became violent easily. Bernardo was Maria s cousin, and Tybalt was Juliet s cousin. Bernardo was killed in the rumble, and so was Tybalt. Finally, there are many comparisons and contrasts between the two plays. Between characters, as well as plot. Although some of them are very small, they make the two very much different.
